Checking out my new Fuze.
I returned the Nokia; had a hard time with the little bitty keys.
There's a lot to learn on this thing that wasn't on my Tilt.

Not Sad-today (Saturday)

Brent's flight is in-air right now!

When he was little Brent was involved in youth soccer and would have early morning games on Saturday. Friday nights were usually late nights because we'd get together with the rest of the family and he'd be up late playing with his cousins. That made waking up on Saturdays problematic. He'd be grumpy so I'd ask him, "Is today Sad-today?"

Update

Well, he made it home on time. He wanted to eat Korean food so we decided to drive into town to meet up with Ryan and Pua at Camellia Yakiniku. Terrific lunch. Scratched the beach plans and headed home.

Upcoming Homecoming

One thing that makes the onset of the summertime weather bearable is that Brent will be coming home soon!
He's finishing up his finals and is looking forward to flying home on Saturday. The homecoming picnic is Sunday despite the weather outlook for rain. Stay tuned...

Hot Summer Nights

I'm pretty much all done with welcoming summer (even though it's not officially here yet).

Well, this will be the third night of sleeping with the A/C on. I hope the electricity rates don't change anytime soon!

Star Trek movie and a dinner

I really liked the newest Star Trek movie. It was a fun weaving of the main characters' introduction into the whole Star Trek "world" mixed in with great FX and action.

We went to dinner after that at Tadashi in the Pearl Kai SC. Good spider roll and even better Hawaii Five-0 roll. I had misoyaki butterfish. Others had beef teriyaki, tempura teishoku, and salmon shioyaki. Everyone was satisfied. Mahalo to the Ogawas for the Gift Certificate!

Back to work tomorrow....

Memorial Day

A moment to remember the nation's Fallen Heroes.
Hopefully, we can continue to honor their sacrifice by living our lives in the continued pursuit of freedom and liberty.

God Bless the U.S.A.

Joe Lacaden and Ian Tamayori receive their diplomas.
After the ceremony, everyone celebrates including Billy Ray Stutzmann.

Saint Louis Commencement 2009

This was probably the last St. Louis Commencement that we will attend for quite a while. Our sons have graduated and this class is the last that we have any close ties with.

Since my oldest son's graduation in 2001, I've felt that this is probably the most unique ceremony in Hawaii. The boys dressed in their white dinner jackets and black slacks really make them stand out from the normal cap and gown outfit. They all look so handsome.

There is always a moment that chokes me up when I attend one of these: from Ryan's class singing the Alma Mater in harmony to Brent's class rendition of The Prayer with Maila Gibson and Ho'okena last year to the Valedictory Address yesterday, there is always a "chicken skin" moment!

Congratulations to the SLS Class of 2009!
